How to build a website that would make money

13 July 2012

A little more than ten years ago an e-commercial website was a prerogative of just a few website owners. The process of building e-commerce sites involved quite complex coding and technical training. However, today the situation is totally different. The Internet hasn’t got any technical limits and, what’s more important, it gives the business world all the tools to grow and expand. Today, basically anyone can build an e-commercial websites such as open source blogs, web building wizards or even big platforms like Ebay, Amazon etc.

It is absolutely realistically to build a good and viable web business with little understanding of Mysql database, HTML or PHP coding. Everything you need is time to learn and some computer background.

Shall we compare static web pages and content management systems? Static pages (as the name implies) do not change. They’ve got their .htm at the end of URL and they remain unchangeable right till the moment when a website owner wants to edit the content etc. On the contrary, content management systems are very flexible. They can be very simple such as WordPress blog and, for example, www.blogger.com or quite powerful and capable to run more than 100 000 pages. The idea is to design something that could make the search engines rank their websites well and drive big flows of traffic.

The first objective of the content on a site is to solve people’s problems, answer their queries and give them solutions. Stuffing the text with keywords and phrases to optimize the content for the search engines is only the secondary purpose.
