The importance of content for SEO

Very often, thinking about the best and the most effective ways to promote a website on the web, we forget about almost the most important part of a well-optimized website – its content. Keep in mind that search engines cannot index the images. The only way to tell the electronic robots what your website is about is to give them information via the text. However, often times it’s really difficult to put text on the site. Why?

When designing a website, most of the clients give more value to the appearance of the website than actually its functions. Usually the most beautiful websites are created using Flash. But often times we are carried away with a desire to design a nice-looking layout with all the alluring animations that totally forget why we actually need a website.

The first thing you should be thinking about when creating a website is its content and the optimization process. The search engines should be able to clearly see what you’re trying to convey and if your site is worthy of ranking. Make clear to the customers what you’ve got to offer. That’s probably one of the most useful and practical advice. Thoroughly think what to write about and get started. The fact is, when people think about placing the text on a site, they can easily get caught paying too much attention to the font, color and its general look instead of making sure that it is useful for the audiences.

The advice that I could give you referring to the text is to leave your computer for a while, take a piece of paper and a pen and start to write. Write everything that comes to your mind, about yourself,  the history of the company, about your products and services, whatever. Before you even realize it, you will have ready and full content to publish on your business website. Organize it and make it mean something. Once that all is done, you can start to plan the layout, fonts, styles and other trimmings which could add spiciness to your site.
