The way to turn visitors on your site into customers

25 July 2012

The whole purpose of the website is to sell. Therefore, website appearance and rankings mean absolutely nothing when the sales numbers are negative. Actually, that is the most commonly known problem that majority of e-commerce sites come across these days – low indicators of sales.

The question is, how to turn visitors into your prospective buyers? The process of converting people into clients is not that simple, as a matter of fact. There exist several factors which can greatly affect the final outcome. But e-commerce strategies change rapidly and thus, you need to always acquire new experience and master the latest developments to be able to compete with others on the Internet marketspace.

An e-commerce website is not just an electronic brochure of items. It’s not even about effective shopping carts and payment gateways. There have to be some other factors which could have an impact on people’s minds and encourage them to to buy directly from the site. Take a look at your website and answer the next question. Does your website evoke the desire to make a purchase and the trust to the company? Would you not hesitate to complete an online transaction if you were a client? Be honest with yourself when answering these questions.

If you’re interested in improving the process of converting visitors into your potential buyers, here are a few tips for you:

1. Make your offerings clear. Of course, if you’re the only person who’s selling a certain type of product, it won’t be a difficult job to sell and you may consider yourself a lucky person. But if you’re not, then you need to create a unique and convincing business image to stand out from your competitors and persuade your customers of company reliability. That’s probably the most important aspect. The site has to demonstrate reliability and security.

2. Target your traffic. Of course, bigger numbers usually seem much more impressive but they are not necessarily more effective, that’s the fact. If high conversion rates is what you need, make your ads very specific to the offering. Keep in mind that the targeted keywords can certainly get you bigger flow of traffic but high conversion rates are not guaranteed.

3. Get the convertible content. The content of a website is supposed to speak business. Tell your customers what is that what you’re selling on the site and how it’s different from your competitors’ offerings. They should be able to clearly see the benefits of buying from you. Don’t forget that visitors usually have got multiple other options.

4. Remember that people have got many many fears when they have to deal with online businesses and complete money transactions through various payment gateways. Your privacy policy should suppress these worryings. The customers need to know that all the personal information that share on your website won’t be used anywhere else. Assure them in safety and security of the site.
