The ways to get rid of your visitors

02 August 2012

If you’re interested in restraining your visitors and possibly turning them into your patrons, provide an interesting, eye-catchy, beneficial, useful and professionally designed website. But if your site is doing nothing but annoying people, be sure that they will quickly find another one and never visit yours again.

I’d like to share with you the most effective techniques to annoy people and get rid of your potential customers within a few moments. Or, if that’s not what you want, just take into consideration the most common mistakes that web designers do together with website owners and avoid making those mistakes in the future.

Usage of frames would be the first effective way to annoy your visitors. Such websites usually frustrate and annoy web surfers because, firstly they are very obtrusive and secondly, they complicate the navigation system. As a matter of fact, websites with frames are out of favour by the search engine spiders too. So, basically, by using frames on your site you can kill two birds with one stone – annoy your visitors and get disliked by the search engines.

The usage of fanciful graphics might seem like a good idea, but only at the beginning. If you take a closer look, you will see that all these blinking graphics and flashy elements can distract the attention of your visitors and slow the time loads. The majority of people don’t find it amusing to wait for ages till the site loads, so they will choose to leave.

Another effective way to piss your visitors off is to not provide any contact information on the site. By doing so, Internet users will know for a fact that your company is not a type of organization to be trusted and relied on. However, if you put your email address or any other contact information on each of the pages, people will be assured that they can contact you whenever it’s needed.

A complex navigation system will speed up the process of losing the customers. Scatter the links throughout the site and make sure they are located in different places on every page so that your visitors can definitely get confused and lost. A clear and well-structured website with organized links and navigation menus would have the opposite effect.

Some time ago, music used to be one of the common features used to design a website. But these days background sounds have become the annoying and distracting elements. If that’s really important for you to use music on the site, give your visitors an option to turn it off.

Finally, if you still have customers despite all inadvertence, make your content unreadable. What you should do is to use pale font colors on a similar pale background. The more difficult it is to read the text, the less volunteers you will have who would still want to visit your site.
