What ingredients make a website good

25 June 2012

Thinking about creating a website it’s essential to consider many other criteria aside from basic aesthetic preferences. It’s not just the look that makes a website good. Ok, so what are the other ingredients which make a website success? Let’s have a look.

First of all, surely, it’s website user friendliness. You can create the most beautiful website but if it’s not usable, it’s basically a big waste of money. The users should be able to read the content properly, find the necessary links to navigate the website and use all the features available on the site without discomfort. The usage of a website should not be complicated. In fact, a website is expected to be self-explanatory and intuitive so that a wide range of users can access and use it without putting a lot of effort. A good website answers all the questions even before they’ve been asked.

Think of all the important things which would interest a user who’s come to your website. For one, all people would wonder what kind of benefits they can get from your website and for two, what it would require. Don’t use obscure mottos, offers or other tricks to attract the attention. The more specific you are, the better reputation you establish.

If that’s only possible, make a website very lucid and comprehensible. The visitors would appreciate simplicity and clarity with respect to what links to click and the forms to fill. The least you require, the more eagerly Internet users would visit your website. It’s noticed that people don’t even like to divulge their email addresses and hence, it would be quite naively to expect them to give you more personal information. It should be their own decision whether they want to be involved in your website or not. On giving such freedom, you will see that people would be more willing to subscribe to your site.

A good website should be structured in a lucid and clear manner. Use the speaking headings so that random visitors can quickly get an idea what your website is about. Don’t plaster the web page with long, trivial and useless texts.
