22 March 2012

The answer seems obvious, but still some people are inquisitive about the peculiarities and specificity of this recently introduced profession. For this reason I thought to write a brief explanation which could be very helpful for those getting confused with the definition “freelance web designer” and also for those wanting to obtain this profession and learn how to do it properly.

Who is a freelance web designer? He is a web expert who is working independently from a company or corporation and have his own preferable time-schedule to implement the projects. He generally works by himself and creates web designs for various business categories. A designer with knowledge of web development can take on the full company project and design a logo, branding style, integrate cms, prepare the content and launch a website live. Of course, to find a freelance web developer who can provide the whole range of services would be a big luck. However, the majority of freelance web designers usually specify in a particular skills set; that is why oftentimes a client has to be ready to hire not only a web designer but also a computer programmer.

The full-time freelance web designers make their all income from their freelance business. They usually work either from home or from a private office where they’ve got an access to Internet. An increase in orders from agencies and corporations is very important for freelance web designers. On the contrary there’s another type of web designers and that is part time designers. They’ve got a different full-time job but occasionally they take on small projects to get additional earnings. Usually they charge at lower rate, and work after normal hours.
