I preferred using wordpress because I’m used to it..Guys, about choosing the best for web hosting and designing, I think it depends on your own preference. You can use whichever you are most comfortable. WordPress, Joomla, or Drupal, its up to you as long as it can satisfy you.

My company uses both wordpress and joomla for web designing. The differences which I feel is both have some strengths and flaws, but wordpress is very easy to use and joomla was created to enlarge the user’s options and giving them the possibility to manage.

If you campare joomla1.6 vs Latest wp, joomla wins for its flexibilty and use in large projects. It has a very efficient backend.

Good to see that this article is 6 months old, they way it talks about WordPress is very outdated now. WordPress is very advanced and definitely easier to use than Joomla and even easier to explain to a client who wants to manage their own stuff.

As for advanced features WordPress offer so much now and new plugins are coming online daily to make it one of the most powerful CMSD platforms on the web not just for blogging anymore.

My vote will go for WordPress because it is easy of development as it has a great installer, the themes are less complicated, less loading time and user friendly interface . Joomla is rich in feature but it has less interface and less security.

Wordpress is really not for professional websites. Its good out of the box very easy for the client. But try doing something unique with it and not only will be be more work than Joomla, it will be difficult for the client to figure out how to update it.

Joomla beats wordpress at adding modules, multiple menus and slideshows out of the box, that the client can easily manage in the backend(once he has crossed the learning curve of Joomla, which I agree is higher than wordpress).
Both has it pros. WordPress is like a gearless scooter even a kid can drive it. It can take you from point A to Point B. Its easy to modify upto the point of covering it up fully to protect from rain and sun.
Joomla is Car, one needs to take a driving lessons for a while to start driving it. But you could turn it into a monster truck very easily.

Its not that such advance stuff cannot be done with wordpress, anything and everything that is possible with joomla is possible with wordpress. You could turn both into a monster truck (metaphorically speaking) but it takes the same time.
But Joomla beats wordpress hands down if you want a car with a few extra features.(again metaphorically speaking) and its out of the box and installing a few extensions.
To get the same thing in wordpress takes a little extra effort, but not that it cannot be done or cannot equal joomla its possible.
Out of the box you want a blog, joomla is over kill
Out of the blog you want a full fledged website, getting wordpress to do it is simply extra work for the developer, joomla is a song.

To ask which one will win – WordPress or Joomla? This is like asking a question of which car is a better designed car – BMW or Mercedes-Benz?  Both cars are excellent, well designed car with unique quality to itself. This is all come down to an answer of what do need & perfer!
